Interesting Facts About Alcohol

Who invented alcohol?

The simple answer is nature did.

Natural growing yeast, found in soils (saccharomyces cerevisiae) eats the naturally occurring sugars in fruit or grain and as a result produces alcohol and carbon dioxide. This process is called fermentation.

The earliest evidence of man actually producing wine is around 8000 BC about the same time man was inventing pottery; it has been recorded in Egypt and Turkey (Chatal Hyuk).
